Sipsy is a fast-growing spirits and wine retailer based in Los Angeles. With 3 brick-and-mortar locations and 2 more opening this year, we are expanding quickly and building a team to match. We also offer same-day local delivery and nationwide shipping. We are looking for a driven, knowledgeable Assistant Manager to step into a leadership role at one of our highest-volume locations.
Role Overview
The Assistant Manager supports the Store Manager in overseeing day-to-day store operations and serves as Manager on Duty in the absence of ownership. This role requires solid knowledge of spirits, wine, and beer, a customer-first mindset, and the ability to step up and lead when needed. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to grow into a senior retail leadership role.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as Manager on Duty in the absence of ownership, making operational decisions and ensuring the store runs smoothly
- Assist the Store Manager in supervising and supporting a team of sales associates and stockers
- Help maintain team schedules and ensure adequate floor coverage at all times
- Support onboarding and ongoing training of team members, including product knowledge education
- Maintain deep knowledge of Sipsy's spirits, wine, and beer assortment; educate and coach staff on product categories, tasting notes, and brand stories to ensure confident customer interactions
- Deliver exceptional customer service and assist customers with product selection
- Address and resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate restocking and product rotation as needed
- Assist with receiving and verifying incoming orders from vendors and suppliers
- Support shipping and fulfillment operations to ensure accuracy and on-time dispatch
- Maintain store standards for cleanliness, organization, and presentation
- Communicate store needs, team updates, and operational issues to the Store Manager and ownership
- Implement company promotions, merchandising updates, and operational directives
Compensation
- $40,000 – $45,000 annually, commensurate with experience

Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a liquor, wine, or spirits retail environment — required
- Minimum 1 year of management or supervisory experience — required
- Strong knowledge of spirits, wine, and beer categories
- Ability to lead and support a team with professionalism and accountability
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Valid ID and ability to obtain applicable alcohol handling certifications if required
Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
