Our Lady of Peace Catholic School is seeking a dependable, caring, and student-centered Extended Day Staff Member to support our after-school programming. This position plays an important role in providing a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for students at the end of the school day.
The Extended Day Staff Member will supervise students, support structured and unstructured activities, assist with snack and transitions, and help ensure that students feel safe, seen, and supported while in our care. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children, is reliable and flexible, and can help create a calm, positive, and respectful after-school environment.
The Extended Day Staff Member will:
- Supervise students during after-school programming from approximately 2:45–5:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
- Help ensure the safety, well-being, and positive behavior of all students in the program.
- Support daily routines, including student check-in, snack, homework time, indoor and outdoor play, structured activities, and dismissal.
- Build positive and appropriate relationships with students.
- Assist in planning or leading simple games, activities, crafts, or enrichment opportunities.
- Help maintain a calm, respectful, and organized environment.
- Monitor students during transitions, bathroom breaks, outdoor play, and parent pick-up.
- Communicate respectfully and professionally with students, families, and school staff.
- Follow school policies and procedures related to student safety, supervision, behavior, and emergency response.
- Assist with basic cleanup and organization of Extended Day spaces.
- Work collaboratively with the Extended Day Administrator, school office, and other Extended Day staff.
- Support the Catholic mission, values, and community life of Our Lady of Peace Catholic School.
Qualified candidates should possess:
- Experience working with children in a school, childcare, camp, coaching, parish, or youth program setting preferred.
- Ability to supervise groups of students in a safe, calm, and positive manner.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliability, punctuality, and consistency.
- Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to follow directions, routines, and school procedures.
- Comfort working with students of various ages.
- Ability to respond appropriately to student needs, conflicts, and behavior concerns.
- Willingness to support the mission and values of Catholic education.
- Completion of required background check, safe environment training, and any other required school or Archdiocesan requirements.
