American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPC) position requiring stepdown and telemetry experience, with a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience.

Located on the E4 CVPC floor of a hospital's E Heart Tower, a 40-bed cardiac surgery stepdown unit

Primary patient population includes CV surgery and vascular surgery patients (CABG, AVR, MVR, Bentall, TAVR, thoracic lung surgery, esophagogastrectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, carotid endarterectomies), with overflow medical cardiology patients (heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, heart block)

Patient ratio is 1:5 RN-to-patient; PCT ratio is 1:13

Day shift staffing includes 1 charge RN, 13 RNs, 4 PCTs, and 1.33 HUC; night shift includes 1 charge RN, 13 RNs, 4 PCTs, and 0.33 HUC

Equipment used includes Baxter IV pumps and CADD epidural pumps

EMR is Cerner

Day shift hours are 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM

Minimum of 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday) required per 6-week schedule period

Flexibility to work holidays is required

No on-call responsibilities
-
Floating to any stepdown unit (1:5), med/surg unit (1:6-7), or ER inpatient holding area (1:6) may be required
-
13-week contract
-
Active NC or compact RN license required
-
Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)

Minimum 2 years of recent clinical RN experience required

Stepdown experience required
-
Telemetry experience required
-
US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
-
One professional reference required (two references required if candidate is from Florida or Missouri)
-
No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
-
Common procedures on the unit include epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, IV Glucommander, and cardiac drip management (phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, Cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine)

Prior CV surgery and vascular surgery experience (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass) within the past year is preferred

CVICU experience is a plus

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible

Scrub color requirement: all navy, white tops with navy bottoms, or all white
