Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented CNC Operator to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines to produce precision metal and plastic components. Your expertise in CNC programming, blueprint reading, and mechanical knowledge will ensure that production runs smoothly, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced machining equipment and contribute to innovative manufacturing processes in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Set up CNC milling machines and lathes according to detailed blueprints and technical specifications.
- Program CNC machines using G-code, M-code, and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software to produce precise parts.
- Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings accurately to ensure correct machining operations.
- Operate CNC equipment such as Fanuc-controlled machines, grinders, and other precision tools safely and efficiently.
- Conduct quality inspections using measurement tools like calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) to verify part dimensions and tolerances.
- Perform routine maintenance on CNC machinery, including tool changes, calibration, and troubleshooting machine issues.
- Maintain detailed documentation of machining processes, inspection results, and production logs in compliance with quality standards.
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives by optimizing machining processes and reducing waste through continuous improvement practices.
Skills
- Proficiency in CNC programming languages including G-code and M-code; experience with CNC G-code programming is essential.
- Strong knowledge of blueprint reading and mechanical blueprint interpretation for accurate part fabrication.
- Experience with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software such as SolidWorks or similar tools for part design review.
- Skilled in the use of measurement instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and coordinate measuring machines for quality control.
- Mechanical knowledge related to metal machining, plastics injection molding, welding, grinding, and tooling setup.
- Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes is a plus.
- Ability to operate CNC milling machines and CNC lathes controlled by Fanuc or similar systems confidently.
- Basic math skills necessary for calculations related to measurements and tolerances in manufacturing processes.
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, forklifts, and other shop equipment required for machine setup and maintenance.
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards for precise measurement interpretation.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles to promote efficiency within production workflows.
