Job Summary:
Apex Septic & Excavating is seeking a dependable and hardworking Construction Laborer to join our growing team. This position assists with septic system installations, excavation projects, site preparation, underground utility work, and general construction activities. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, physically capable, willing to learn, and able to work effectively in a team environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with excavation, grading, trenching, and site preparation work.
- Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment.
- Assist in the installation of septic systems, sewer lines, water lines, and drainage systems.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, compactors, and other construction equipment safely.
- Set grades, measure distances, and assist with layout as directed.
- Perform general labor tasks including digging, shoveling, raking, and backfilling.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site.
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Assist equipment operators and CDL drivers as needed.
- Perform daily equipment and tool inspections.
- Direct traffic and maintain safe work zones when required.
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Complete other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications:
- Construction, excavation, septic, or underground utility experience preferred but not required.
- Experience operating power tools and construction equipment is a plus.
- Valid driver's license required.
- CDL license is a plus.
- Ability to read and follow instructions.
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work on uneven terrain for extended periods.
- Ability to work in trenches, around heavy equipment, and in outdoor environments.
- Ability to perform physically demanding labor throughout the workday.
