Job Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and licensed Crisis Intervention Specialist to provide community-based crisis response and support services throughout Orange County. This role works closely with individuals and families experiencing mental health, substance use, or behavioral health crises, helping connect them to critical resources and ongoing care.
The ideal candidate is a licensed clinician who can work independently, remain calm in high-pressure situations, and provide person-centered support while collaborating with community partners and emergency response teams.
Crisis Intervention Specialist Responsibilities:
Respond to crisis and behavioral health calls as part of a community-based response team
Provide on-site intervention and support during mental health, substance use, and other behavioral health emergencies
Conduct assessments and help individuals access appropriate services and resources
Collaborate with crisis call centers, mobile response teams, healthcare providers, and community agencies
Assist with safety planning, crisis stabilization, and resource coordination
Support individuals and families with education, advocacy, and navigation of available services
Maintain accurate and timely documentation that meets Medicaid and regulatory requirements
Participate in ongoing training, team meetings, and professional development activities
Provide coverage and support for crisis calls throughout Orange County as needed
Qualifications & Experience:
Active LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, LPC, RN, Occupational Therapist, or related clinical license required
Must be eligible to provide Medicaid-billable services
Experience in behavioral health, crisis intervention, substance use, or community-based services
Strong assessment, de-escalation, communication, and documentation skills
Ability to work independently in community settings and respond calmly to crisis situations
Valid driver's license required
Bilingual Spanish, crisis response experience, recovery-focused training, or knowledge of local community resources is a plus
Commitment to person-centered care and supporting individuals through recovery and stabilization efforts
