Illumination Works is looking for an OT Application Administrator to be responsible for the administration, support, maintenance, and optimization of applications used in operational and industrial environments. The role ensures OT applications operate reliably, securely, and efficiently while integrating with enterprise IT systems. The administrator collaborates with engineering, operations, cybersecurity, and IT teams to maintain system availability and improve operational performance.
The key responsibilities of an OT Application Administrator include:

Support integration between OT systems and enterprise platforms including MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems), SCADA systems, ERP systems, and data analytics platforms within government-operated facilities

Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade OT applications and supporting components

Configure APIs, data interfaces, and middleware connections
-
Manage application performance, availability, and reliability
-
Troubleshoot issues related to application functionality, data flow, and system performance

Implement cybersecurity best practices for OT environments

Ensure systems comply with internal policies and industry standards

Maintain data integrity across OT platforms

Collaborate with engineers, operators, and IT staff on system improvements

Key skills we look for include:

3+ years of experience supporting industrial or operational applications

Experience with OT platforms such as SCADA systems, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Industrial IoT platforms

Experience with OT or industrial control environments

Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (OPC, Modbus, MQTT)

Experience with cybersecurity practices for OT environments

Working knowledge of Windows/Linux system administration in operational environments

Experience with scripting or automation (Python, PowerShell)
-
Experience with databases (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.)

Application troubleshooting and performance tuning
-
Industrial systems knowledge

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Understanding of OT/IT convergence

Must have or be willing to obtain Secret Clearance (this requires US citizenship)
