Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer with 2+ years of experience to join our growing engineering team in Carnegie, PA. This role focuses on the design, analysis, and implementation of power systems for diverse industrial and commercial projects.
The ideal candidate shall hold an Engineer in Training (EIT) certification and is actively on track to obtain a Professional Engineering (PE) license. You will work closely with senior engineers and other team members to deliver high-quality, code-compliant electrical design documents from initial concept through project completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Power Systems Design: Prepare detailed electrical engineering designs for commercial and industrial facilities, including low-to-medium voltage power distribution, cable and conduit sizing, and service calculations.
- Lighting & Photometrics: Develop interior and exterior lighting layouts and perform comprehensive photometric analysis using industry-standard software.
- Power Systems Analysis: Conduct arc flash hazard analysis, short-circuit studies, and protective device coordination studies.
- Control and Instrumentation: Develop control and instrumentation strategies, along with schematic diagrams to be included with project electrical designs.
- Code Compliance: Ensure all designs align strictly with the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA standards, energy codes, and local building regulations.
- Construction Documents: Develop clear and accurate electrical diagrams, panel schedules, and one-line diagrams.
- Project Collaboration: Coordinate with cross-functional teams, clients, utilities, and contractors to resolve technical inquiries, review submittals, and support construction administration.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Experience: 2+ years of progressive experience in electrical design specifically for commercial and industrial facilities.
- Certification: Active Engineer in Training (EIT) status, with a clear trajectory and commitment to obtaining a Professional Engineering (PE) license.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Hands-on experience with power analysis software (e.g., SKM Power Tools, ETAP, or EasyPower) for arc flash and fault calculations.
- Proficiency in photometric calculation software (e.g., AGi32 or Visual Lighting).
- Core Competencies: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple project deadlines effectively.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience conducting site visits to document existing conditions and support field investigations.
- Competency in drafting and modeling software (e.g., AutoCAD and Revit).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and client interaction.
Pay: $70,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
