We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Medication Aide (Nights) to join our dynamic healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed medications accurately following physician orders and established protocols, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards.
- Monitor residents’ vital signs, responses to medications, and overall health status during night shifts, promptly reporting any changes or concerns to nursing staff.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living such as mobility, hygiene, and feeding, including specialized care like tube feeding and catheter care.
- Maintain detailed medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems like Epic or Cerner, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality at all times.
- Support residents with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease through memory care techniques, providing comfort and reassurance during overnight hours.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure comprehensive patient care plans are followed, especially for individuals with complex needs such as hospice or acute care cases.
- Uphold safety standards by conducting regular checks on medical equipment, ensuring proper functioning of devices used for medication administration and vital sign monitoring.
Skills
- Proven experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments; familiarity with senior care and hospice settings preferred.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and procedures related to medication administration and patient care.
- Skilled in working with individuals with developmental disabilities or cognitive impairments like dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.
- Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; experience with medical records management is highly desirable.
- Excellent caregiving skills combined with the ability to handle medical tasks such as tube feeding, catheter care, and vital signs measurement confidently.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
