Job Summary:
An Independent Living Facility Caregiver provides essential support and companionship to residents who are mostly self-sufficient but may need some assistance with daily activities and general well-being. The caregiver is responsible for ensuring a safe, clean, and comfortable living environment while fostering a sense of community and independence among residents.
Key Responsibilities:
Resident Assistance:

Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed, such as light grooming, dressing, and mobility.

Provide assistance with housekeeping tasks like making beds, light cleaning, and laundry.
Health and Wellness Monitoring:

Observe residents for any changes in physical or mental health and report concerns to the nurse supervisor or facility manager.

Assist residents with medication reminders and ensure they take medications as prescribed.
Meal Assistance:

Help with the preparation and serving of meals and snacks, if needed.

Assist residents with dining needs and monitor their nutritional intake.
Companionship and Social Support:

Engage residents in conversations and recreational activities to promote mental stimulation and social interaction.

Accompany residents on walks, outings, and to scheduled activities within or outside the facility.
Emergency Response:

Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies, such as falls or medical incidents, following facility protocols.

Ensure residents are aware of and understand emergency procedures.
Communication:

Maintain open and effective communication with residents, their families, and other staff members.

Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required.
Safety and Security:

Ensure a safe living environment by adhering to safety protocols and guidelines.

Conduct regular checks to ensure the facility is secure and free of hazards.
Qualifications:
Education:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Completion of a caregiver training program (preferred).
Experience:

Previous experience in a caregiving role or working with seniors is preferred.
