Job Overview
We are seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to drive sales growth for custom control panels, automation solutions, and low-voltage electrical systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical sales background with expertise in UL 508A control panel design, industrial controls, and automation systems. In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to customers by identifying their needs, recommending technical solutions, and providing guidance throughout the sales process and project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with OEMs, system integrators, contractors, consulting engineers, and industrial end users.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities for UL 508A control panels, automation systems, and electrical control solutions.
- Review customer specifications, electrical drawings, and project requirements to develop technical solutions and accurate quotations.
- Provide application engineering support and recommend appropriate control system architectures and components.
- Collaborate with engineering, project management, and manufacturing teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Present technical presentations, product demonstrations, and provide customer training.
- Assist in preparing proposals, cost estimates, and bid packages.
- Support customers during project development, installation, startup, and commissioning phases.
- Maintain project pipelines, forecasts, and customer interactions within CRM systems.
- Remain current with industry standards including UL 508A, NEC, NFPA 79, and emerging automation technologies.
Required Quaifications
- 3–10+ years of experience in industrial automation, electrical controls, control panel manufacturing, or technical sales engineering.
- Firsthand experience with UL 508A industrial control panel design, assembly, or project management.
- Thorough understanding of low-voltage control systems, motor controls, PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, relays, instrumentation, and power distribution.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, panel layouts, one-line diagrams, and control narratives.
- Demonstrated experience preparing technical proposals, quotations, and cost estimates.
- Strong communication, presentation, problem-solving, and customer relationship management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CRM platforms, and electrical design software.
- Ability to travel for customer meetings, site visits, and industry events.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Automation, or a related field.
- Knowledge of industry markets. Including but not limited to manufacturing, water/wastewater, food processing, material handling, packaging, or utilities.
- Existing relationships with industrial customers, contractors, or engineering firms.
