JOB TITLE: FINE ARTS ACADEMIC COACH - DISTRICT
REPORTS TO: ADMINISTRATOR
CALENDAR: 0212-FT
Job Goal:
The academic coach is a content expert, instructional leader, and professional development instructor. The academic coach is flexible and adaptable with a high degree of organization, facilitation, and management.
Minimum Qualifications:

Highly qualified in designated content areas

Master’s degree in education related field (preferred)

Knowledge of state standards and researched-based instruction

Demonstrated classroom teaching ability

Demonstrated leadership skills
Core Job Functions:

Utilize content and instructional expertise as well as professional development leadership to achieve goals of the District strategic plan goals

Keep abreast of and interpret current research, curriculum development, and instructional strategies
-
Develop curriculum and facilitate curriculum writing
-
Communicate effectively between sites and grade levels
-
Communicate effectively between the classroom and curriculum director
-
Work closely with instructional services departments (curriculum, special education, Title, professional development) to actively seek out, develop and implement new and promising best practices and/or programs to increase learning opportunities for all students

Support teachers in curriculum implementation

Serve as a liaison for state and national educational reforms and with other districts Facilitate program development

Develop and instruct professional development classes based on student achievement needs, site, and district goals

Build content, instruction, and assessment capacity at school sites

Work effectively with principals and teachers in improving site instructional programs

Model research-based instructional techniques and strategies in the classroom as well as conducting professional development

Disaggregate and analyze test data and then assist in the interpretation of the data for school improvement

Effectively plan and teach adults, in both a group and individual setting, to understand and communicate the implications of the changes needed in today’s public educational system

Perform other duties relating to general job function as assigned by supervisor
