Job Title: Behavior Interventionist
Location: South Bendle Elementary School
Reports To: Building Administrator and/or Superintendent
Summary of Position: The Behavior Interventionist supports students in grades K–2 who demonstrate social, emotional, or behavioral needs that impact learning. This position works collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and families to implement proactive behavior supports, teach skills, and maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.
Early intervention is critical at the primary level; the Behavior Interventionist plays a key role in helping young learners develop self-regulation, problem-solving, and positive peer interaction skills.
Qualifications:
Experience in an educational setting
Preferred experience in working with students in grades K-2
Familiarity with MTSS, PBIS, BIPs, and restorative practices preferred
The ability to work collaboratively with a team in supporting students
Experience in implementing behavior interventions in a school setting is preferred
An overwhelmingly positive attitude & willingness to work with students/families is required
Ability to work in a respectful & confidential manner
Teach and reinforce age-appropriate social-emotional and self-regulation skills.
Model positive behavior strategies within classrooms.
Support students during transitions, recess, lunch, and other less-structured settings as needed.
Utilize trauma-informed and developmentally appropriate practices
Support crisis response plans as trained and directed
Minimum of 60 college credits completed toward a degree, or an earned Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, social work, or related field preferred
Physical Requirements:
Ability to move quickly to support students
May require lifting, bending, kneeling, twisting, or sudden movements
Ability to provide active supervision and developmentally appropriate co-regulation support across diverse school environments.
