We are a small private Montessori school seeking a part-time Afternoon Support Staff. The ideal candidate would have previous experience working with young children, have experience with Montessori, or be willing to learn, and would be able to make a long-term commitment to the classroom. The hours of the position are from 10:45am - 5:30pm, Monday-Friday.
Responsibilities of the job include, but are not limited to:
- Cover breaks for all staff
- Oversee the nap room
- Assist in the aftercare program
- Assist all lead teachers (Toddler, Primary, and Elementary) in any and all classroom tasks and duties, following the Montessori method
- Sweep, mop, sanitize, and other cleaning duties during and at the end of the school day
- Help facilitate a safe, nurturing environment for the children
- Uphold the standards of our Montessori school and maintain an enriching experience for our students
- Work as a team member within our community, ensuring the children's safety at all times
- Work with flexibility: moving from classroom to classroom or from task to task
- Help foster independence within the children's daily routine
- Gently enforce playground and classroom rules, speaking in an affirmative, kind tone
- Treat the children and all of our community members with respect, grace, and kindness
