Job Summary
We are seeking passionate and dynamic Youth Musical Theatre Directors, Choreographers, and Vocal Music Directors to inspire and lead young performers in vibrant theatrical productions. This role offers an exciting opportunity to cultivate creativity, develop young talent, and foster a love for the arts in young people of all ages. The ideal candidates will bring energy, expertise, and a commitment to nurturing the artistic growth of young artists in a collaborative environment. All positions are paid, including internships, and are integral to creating memorable artistic journeys for our young participants. These role(s) have room for plenty of growth as we always love to work with returning artists!
Duties
- Design and implement comprehensive plans for students in the show(s) you take on.
- Lead rehearsals with enthusiasm, ensuring students understand choreography, vocal techniques, and theatrical storytelling.
- Manage classroom dynamics with effective classroom management strategies that promote positive behavior and active participation.
- Provide instruction in various performing arts disciplines, depending on the role(s) you are hired for.
- Collaborate with other teaching artists to create cohesive productions that highlight students’ talents while fostering teamwork and confidence.
- Support childhood development and behavior management by creating a safe, inclusive environment that encourages self-expression and growth.
- Work closely with students of diverse backgrounds and skill levels, including elementary through high school age groups.
- Evaluate student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to enhance their artistic skills and self-esteem.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working with children or youth in educational or arts settings.
- Strong background in teaching visual & performing arts such as dance, singing, and acting.
- For choreographers: Expertise in choreography and dance instruction with the ability to teach various styles suitable for musical theatre productions.
- Knowledge of curriculum development tailored specifically for creative arts instruction in a youth setting.
- Familiarity with theater production processes, including staging and direction, choreography creation, vocal coaching, and stage management.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and inspire young performers of all ages.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and experience working in childcare environments is advantageous.
