Duties
- Assist with food preparation by chopping, slicing, measuring ingredients, and assembling dishes according to established recipes and standards
- Support cooking activities by following instructions from chefs or kitchen managers to prepare meals efficiently and safely
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen by washing dishes, utensils, cookware, and food prep equipment promptly and thoroughly
- Ensure proper food handling practices are followed to uphold safety and sanitation regulations
- Help with inventory management by organizing supplies and notifying supervisors of stock needs or shortages
- Support catering events or special meal services as needed, ensuring timely and quality food delivery
- Follow all food safety protocols diligently to prevent contamination and ensure compliance with health regulations
- Assisting with dishwashing
Requirements
- Previous experience in a dietary department, restaurant, or food service environment is preferred but not required; enthusiasm for learning is key
- Knowledge of food handling procedures, kitchen safety standards, and basic culinary techniques such as knife skills and meal preparation
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong understanding of food safety practices and sanitation standards
- Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to communicate clearly with team members and supervisors
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed
- Experience with menu planning, catering, or dietary aide roles is a plus but not mandatory
