SUMMARY
The Assistant Preventative Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for supporting the maintenance and reliability of Peek'n Peak Resort's vehicles, utility equipment, and small-engine equipment. This position focuses on preventative maintenance, routine repairs, inspections, and small improvement projects to ensure equipment remains safe, dependable, and ready for daily operations. Working under the direction of the Chief Mechanic and Mountain Manager, this position helps minimize downtime by performing scheduled maintenance and addressing minor mechanical issues before they become major repairs
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on vehicles, heavy/light equipment, small engines, and maintenance equipment.
- Complete routine service including oil changes, lubrication, fluid checks, tire service, inspections, and seasonal maintenance.
- Assist with diagnosing and repairing gasoline and diesel vehicles, heavy/light equipment, and small-engine equipment.
- Inspect and replace common wear components including brakes, batteries, belts, hoses, lights, filters, and tires.
- Conduct daily and scheduled safety inspections, identifying and reporting mechanical issues before failures occur.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and preventative maintenance logs.
- Keep vehicles, equipment, and tools clean, organized, and ready for safe operation.
- Maintain shop cleanliness, organization, inventory, and a safe working environment.
- Assist with equipment loading, transportation, and minor shop or facility maintenance as needed.
- Follow OSHA standards, lockout/tagout procedures, PPE requirements, and all company safety policies
- Safely operate shop equipment, including lifts, jacks, hoists, forklifts, and other maintenance tools.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the resort's maintenance operations.
QUALIFICATIONS

- Mechanical aptitude and experience working on vehicles or equipment.
- Basic understanding of gasoline and diesel engines.
- Experience using diagnostic tools and common shop equipment preferred.
- Ability to perform preventative maintenance independently.
- Welding, fabrication, hydraulic, or electrical experience is a plus.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a mechanic, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record (CDL preferred)

- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.

- This position requires flexibility in scheduling, including nights, weekends, and holidays, particularly during peak ski season. Work is performed both indoors in a shop setting and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
