Overview

Duties
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood sampling using aseptic techniques to collect specimens from diverse patient populations, including pediatrics and geriatrics
- Prepare, label, and process blood and other specimens following strict laboratory protocols to ensure specimen integrity and accurate test results
- Assist with specimen handling, storage, and transportation to the laboratory while maintaining proper documentation in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems
- Monitor patient vital signs, provide patient care, and communicate clearly to ease patient anxiety during specimen collection procedures
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to infection control standards, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and aseptic techniques
- Support laboratory operations by entering data accurately into laboratory information systems, managing specimen logs, and assisting with inventory management
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure timely delivery of specimens and communicate any issues or irregularities promptly
Requirements
- Proven experience in laboratory procedures, techniques, or medical laboratory work, with a focus on phlebotomy or specimen collection
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and clinical laboratory practices necessary for effective blood sampling and patient care
- Certification or training in phlebotomy, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), Basic Life Support (BLS), or Heavy Lifting as applicable
- Familiarity with hospital environments, EMR/EHR systems, data entry protocols, and specimen handling procedures
- Ability to perform venipuncture using various techniques while maintaining patient comfort and safety
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse patient populations including pediatrics and geriatrics
- Physical stamina for standing for extended periods, lifting heavy supplies when necessary, and performing precise manual tasks
- Knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic techniques essential for maintaining a sterile environment

Pay: $16.00 - $24.00 per hour
