This is a senior technical leadership role responsible for defining and governing enterprise‑grade application and platform architecture supporting life and Medicare Supplement insurance solutions. The role combines hands‑on architectural leadership, formal governance participation, and cross‑functional collaboration across engineering, security, and business teams.
The Senior Software Architect serves as a core member of the Architecture Review Board (ARB), ensuring solutions align with enterprise standards, security expectations, and regulatory requirements while enabling teams to deliver scalable, resilient systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and drive architectural direction across multiple agile teams and solution platforms.
- Partner with engineering, product, and delivery leaders to align architecture with business roadmaps and incremental delivery goals.
- Lead architecture decisions through formal governance processes, including ARB reviews and architectural decision records (ADRs).
- Balance architectural governance with delivery enablement to accelerate outcomes without compromising long‑term platform health.
- Design and guide secure, compliant application and integration architectures in regulated insurance environments.
- Provide hands‑on architectural oversight for critical platforms, services, and integrations.
- Define cloud and integration patterns for Azure‑based platforms, including APIs, messaging, and event‑driven architectures.
- Ensure solutions meet non‑functional requirements such as availability, resiliency, performance, disaster recovery, and cost efficiency.
- Support modernization initiatives while navigating legacy and hybrid system constraints.
- Mentor senior engineers and technical leads to strengthen architectural and security practices across teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, with 5+ years in senior architecture or technical leadership roles.
- Proven experience operating within formal architecture governance or review boards.
- Strong background in distributed, service‑oriented, and cloud‑based architectures.
- Hands-on experience with modern cloud platforms (preferably Microsoft Azure).
- Solid understanding of secure application design in regulated enterprise environments.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with .NET / .NET Core platforms and enterprise integration patterns.
- Familiarity with Azure services such as App Services, Functions, Service Bus, Event Grid, Event Hubs, and SQL.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Experience supporting insurance platforms such as policy administration, underwriting, billing, claims, or document generation.
- Prior participation in Architecture Review Boards or security design reviews.
