Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate PRP (Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program) Counselor to join our dynamic behavioral health team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive support and therapeutic interventions to individuals with diverse mental health needs, including those with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, PTSD, and other neurodevelopmental conditions. Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough intake assessments, including gathering medical history, vital signs, and behavioral data to inform treatment planning
- Develop and implement individualized care plans utilizing evidence-based practices such as applied behavior analysis (ABA), behavior management techniques, and crisis intervention strategies
- Provide direct patient care by supporting daily activities, medication administration, and monitoring vital signs to ensure safety and well-being
- Engage clients in therapeutic sessions focused on social skills development, emotional regulation, and coping strategies for managing PTSD or other mental health conditions
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, and records in electronic health records (EHR) systems compliant with HIPAA regulations
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including social workers, medical professionals, educators, and family members to coordinate care and support services
- Collect data on behavioral progress and treatment outcomes to inform ongoing care adjustments and ensure quality standards are met
Qualifications
- Experience working with children and individuals with developmental disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
- Knowledge of crisis management techniques and crisis intervention protocols for behavioral health emergencies
- Background in special education or addiction counseling is highly desirable
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for medical documentation and electronic health records management
- Strong understanding of medical terminology related to mental health, disabilities, and patient care
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with clients, families, and healthcare teams
- Two to three years experience in the medical health field is desired
