Blox Construction, an award-winning general contractor, is growing and seeks a talented Senior Project Engineer to join the team. We are particularly interested in someone with commercial building experience. We are based in Everett, but build in the Greater Seattle area.
Position Overview
We’re looking for a driven, detail-oriented Senior Project Engineer who is ready to take the next step in their career. You will work directly alongside Project Managers and leadership, gaining hands-on experience in both estimating and full-cycle project management from day one. For the right candidate, promotion to Project Manager is not a distant goal; it is the explicit and near-term objective of this hire.
Key Responsibilities:
Estimating & Pre-Construction
- Prepare detailed takeoffs and cost estimates for commercial and residential projects using industry-standard estimating software.
- Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and supplier bids; identify scope gaps and value-engineering opportunities.
- Assist in the development of project budgets, bid proposals, and GMP packages.
- Collaborate with principals to develop and refine estimating templates, historical cost data, and best practices.
Project Management & Field Coordination
- Manage day-to-day project administration including RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, and document control.
- Develop and maintain project schedules in coordination with superintendents; proactively identify and communicate schedule risks.
- Review and process subcontractor pay applications, owner billing, and lien waivers in collaboration with accounting.
- Serve as primary point of contact for owners, architects, and engineers on assigned projects, maintaining strong professional relationships throughout construction.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor quality, safety compliance, and schedule adherence.
- Support project closeout including punch list coordination, O&M manual assembly, and final lien releases.
Team & Company Contribution
- Participate in preconstruction meetings, owner interviews, and project hand-off meetings alongside leadership.
- Mentor junior staff and field personnel in administrative processes and company standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of company processes, templates, and workflows — your ideas will be heard and implemented.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a project engineer or assistant project manager role with a general contractor.
- Demonstrated experience in both estimating and project management functions.
- Experience with Procore (or an equivalent construction management software) is required; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with additional construction management platforms is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact confidently with owners, architects, and subcontractors.
- Solid understanding of construction means and methods across commercial and residential project types.
Preferred
- 5+ years of experience, with increasing responsibility on projects in the $500K–$2M range.
- Experience working for a smaller or mid-size GC where multi-hat responsibility is the norm.
- Familiarity with on-screen takeoff software (Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar).
- OSHA 30-Hour certification.
- Experience with owner-direct commercial construction or residential custom build markets.
What We Offer

- Direct mentorship from company principals and seasoned project managers.
- Competitive base salary commensurate with experience, with performance-based bonus potential.
- Comprehensive benefits including health, dental, and vision coverage.
- A collaborative, low-bureaucracy environment where your contributions are visible and valued.
- Stable project pipeline with a diversified mix of commercial and residential work.
