Job Summary
Nema Enclosures is seeking a proven, experienced Quality Control Inspector for our metal enclosure manufacturing facility. This is NOT a trainee or general production role. The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience performing dimensional and visual inspections on fabricated sheet metal, reading engineering drawings, and using precision measurement tools. Applicants without direct Quality Control experience in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment will not be considered.
Requirements & Experience
- Minimum 2+ years of direct Quality Control / Quality Assurance experience in a manufacturing environment (REQUIRED). (Sheet metal fabrication experience strongly preferred).
- Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret complex 2D/3D engineering drawings, fabrication blueprints, and welding symbols.
- Precision Measuring Tools: Demonstrated proficiency with calipers, micrometers, height gauges, protractors, pin gauges, and coating thickness meters.
- Non-Conformance (NCR) Handling: Hands-on experience identifying non-conforming parts, writing clear Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and coordinating rework with shop supervisors.
- Please note: General warehouse packing, assembly, or line-operator experience alone DOES NOT meet the requirements for this role.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Inspect in-process materials, welded assemblies, powder-coated finishes, and final electrical enclosure products against customer specifications and engineering drawings.
- Accurately utilize precision measuring equipment to verify dimensional tolerances, weld quality, and coating thickness.
- Reject non-conforming parts, issue NCRs in the tracking system, and follow up with Production to confirm proper rework/corrective action.
- Document daily inspection results using quality checklists, logs, and formal inspection reports.
- Communicate quality issues promptly to Quality Leadership, Production Management, and Engineering to prevent project delays.
- Assist in preparing documentation for regulatory and quality audits (e.g., ISO 9001, UL standards).
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent (Required); technical training or CQT certification is a plus.
- Solid understanding of basic shop math and geometric tolerances.
- Ability to safely navigate a fast-paced metal fabrication floor and lift up to 50 lbs when inspecting parts.
