Apprentice Low Voltage Technician (Structured Cabling)
Location: Houston, TX
Pay: $20.00–$24.00/hr
Schedule: Day Shift (7:00–8:00 AM Start)
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire (1040 hours) or Direct Hire
Position Overview
Seeking an Apprentice Low Voltage Technician to support commercial construction projects in the Fort Bend, TX area. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in the low voltage industry while working alongside experienced technicians on structured cabling installations.
The ideal candidate will have construction experience and be comfortable terminating Cat6 cable, with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
Key Responsibilities
- Pull, route, and terminate Cat6 structured cabling
- Assist with commercial low voltage installations
- Install and dress cable in accordance with project standards
- Label, organize, and test network cabling
- Assist with installing pathway systems and cable supports
- Read basic construction drawings and follow installation instructions
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Work closely with Lead Technicians to complete projects on schedule
Qualifications
- Previous commercial construction experience required
- Experience terminating Cat5e/Cat6 cable required
- Basic understanding of structured cabling installation practices
- Ability to use standard low voltage hand tools
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Ability to work in a fast-paced commercial construction environment
Tools & Requirements
- Must provide standard low voltage hand tools
- Must have full PPE
- Professional jobsite appearance (jeans/khakis, work-appropriate shirt)
