Position Overview
We are seeking a Product Engineer to drive design, development and production readiness for instrument panels and door panels. The role focuses on translating customer requirements into robust product definitions, supporting prototypes through to production, and ensuring manufacturability, quality and timely delivery. The Product Engineer will work cross-functionally with design, manufacturing, validation and quality teams to manage feasibility, mitigate engineering issues and deliver components that meet functional, assembly and regulatory expectations.
Key Responsibilities

Lead engineering activities for instrument panels and door panels from concept through production, ensuring alignment to customer requirements and program milestones.

Develop and maintain CAD models, digital mock-ups and detailed engineering documentation to support design reviews and manufacturing transfers.

Apply GD&T to define part and assembly interfaces; create and review tolerance analyses to ensure proper fit and function.

Coordinate prototype builds and evaluate feasibility; support tooling, assembly process development and production ramp-up.

Create and manage the Engineering Open Issues List (EOIL) and drive resolution of engineering open issues to closure.

Prepare and present engineering review reports, design review packages and product definition deliverables to internal and external stakeholders.

Define and execute Design Validation Plans in collaboration with Validation and Quality Engineers; support test plans, validation activities and acceptance criteria.

Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions for design or production issues, working with Quality and Validation teams to implement improvements.

Work with suppliers and manufacturing to ensure process capability, buildability and cost targets are met.

Manage program milestones, risks and trade-offs; escalate issues and propose mitigation strategies to keep development on schedule.
Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).

10+ years experience as a Product Engineer focused on instrument panels and door panels.

Strong proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., CATIA, NX, SolidWorks) and experience creating digital mock-ups.

Practical knowledge of GD&T and tolerance analysis to support part interfaces and assembly.

Experience with prototype development and production launches, including manufacturability considerations and process development.

Familiarity with automotive interior architectures (cockpit, console, hard trims) and related product definition practices.

Experience working with Quality Engineers and Validation Engineers on Design Validation Plans and validation activities.

Demonstrated ability to manage Engineering Open Issues Lists, prepare engineering review reports and drive cross-functional problem resolution.

Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, feasibility studies, tooling interfaces and supplier collaboration.

Strong analytical and root cause analysis skills with experience implementing corrective actions.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to present technical information to customers and cross-functional teams.

Experience managing program milestones, development phase activities and design reviews.
