We are currently seeking an elementary Learning Specialist with Colorado state licensure in Special Education, to teach students in Kindergarten through 6th grade. A successful applicant will be able to facilitate the learning of students with widely differing abilities, backgrounds, interests, developmental levels and learning styles in an interdisciplinary, experiential, holistic manner. Desirable characteristics include flexibility, ability to communicate effectively with staff, parents, and students, and willingness to take risks. Staff are expected to model lifelong learning.

Current Colorado license with an endorsement in special education
Expertise in academic assessment
Expertise in student/teacher/classroom observation
Expertise in effective, useful IEP preparation and implementation
Expertise in supporting literacy needs for students with special needs
Have experience with open/choice/alternative education
Experience with culturally responsive teaching and restorative practices, as well as a demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Teacher: expected to provide individual and group learning experiences based on the integration of curricular areas.
Utilize authentic performance assessments and embrace experiential learning in the classroom and community; facilitate curriculum outside the classroom
Be enthusiastic and able to engage a diverse group of learners
Special Education Team Member
Share responsibility as special education teacher for assigned caseload
Ensure compliance with federal, state and local requirements
Work closely with advisors/teachers, consulting as needed and coordinating services to meet the needs of students
Consult with special education and mental health teams as part of the K-12 program
Participate in district wide requirements and offerings
Act as liaison with outside agencies
Participate in student travel program
Staff Member: All staff members are expected to share leadership and responsibility for decision-making, planning and tasks related to the total school program. Each is an active participant in team meetings, level meetings, and all-staff meetings.
Participate in the school improvement processes including work with the Jefferson County Public School District and state accreditation processes, in addition to actively participating on a variety of school-wide committees
Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents
Work with all staff members in an enthusiastic, positive, and flexible manner
