Assist teacher in setting up and running a Head Start classroom, which includes incorporating an environment and curriculum that reflects a developmentally appropriate multi-cultural anti-bias approach.
- Understands Head Start Policies and supports the philosophy of Booker T. Washington Child Dev. Ctr. Inc. in the implementation of Performance Standards, as reflected in the component plans.
- Assist to completes and maintain all necessary documentation to demonstrate compliance with Performance Standards.
- Implements federal, state, and local health and safety policies and procedures.
- Conducts with teacher a minimum of two (2) home visits and two (2) parent/teacher conferences per family per academic year
- Helps implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum for children aged 3-5, based on the individual interest, needs and abilities of the children in the classroom and the group as a whole.
- Participates in daily team planning of curriculum with the teacher and the other appropriate staff, using and encouraging appropriate input from parents.
- Oversees team assessment of each child developmentally and develop individual goals, involving parents in the process.
- Develops and maintains a relationship with each family to encourage meaningful participation in the program.
