Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse for our oral surgery practice. The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical background in the ER or ICU and demonstrates exceptional patient care skills. The position is part time and can be PRN / Per Diem, with day shift during normal business hours.
Responsibilities
- Utilize knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques.
- Maintain accurate patient records using electronic health record systems. .
- Monitor vital signs and respond promptly to changes in patient conditions during outpatient surgery.
- Monitor IV and ensure intact placement during procedures and sufficient fluids throughout procedure and recovery.
- Prompt placement of new IVs if/when needed.
- Perform blood draws for PRP procedures as directed by provider if/when needed.
- Educate patients and their families about post-op care if/when needed.
- Accurately administrate IV medications per anesthesia provider orders under the direct supervision of provider.
- Communicate and collaborate continuously with provider and surgical team.
- Maintain fully stocked and up to date emergency cart and supplies at all times.
- Minimize cross contamination by following specific cross contamination protocols.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Previous experience in an ICU or ER. Experience in Outpatient GA setting might be considered.
- Ability to start difficult IVs during highly time sensitive situations under pressure.
- Strong understanding of sterile processing and cross contamination protocols.
- ACLS required, PALS preferred.
- Experience with assisting in Emergency and Intubation protocols/procedures and ability to perform critical duties during such procedures.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment providing constant feedback to team during procedures and anesthesia.
- Ability to follow instruction and take direction by providers, supervisors and/or other team members as needed in a professional, prompt and appropriate manner.
- Being a team player is required.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to make quick decisions as well as follow direction under pressure.
- Strict attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast pace environment.
