Do you enjoy making things happen, solving problems and helping a team do its best work?
Mod Scenes is looking for an Operations Manager to lead our growing multidisciplinary team in Norman, Oklahoma.
We are the highest rated stage design company in North America. We provide awesome, high-quality stage design products and technology to clients throughout the US and abroad. We most commonly serve clients in the corporate, church and live events industries. Since 2015, we’ve grown from a small operation into a company serving some of the biggest names in the production industry. We take pride in the high-quality products we design and manufacture right here in Oklahoma.
This role is a people and operations management role. You’ll be responsible for making sure our team has the people, priorities, and support they need to get the job done well. You’ll work closely with our leadership and project teams to turn orders into organized production plans, keep work moving forward, creatively solve problems, and make sure our customers receive the quality and service they expect.
This isn’t a traditional manufacturing environment. We create standard products as well as custom scenic solutions, creating plenty of variety and problem-solving opportunities. While you will spend time being hands on with the projects, your primary responsibility is leading the team, not spending your day operating machinery or running errands. Here are a few cornerstones of what you can expect:
· Managing and developing the manufacturing team
· Organizing daily and weekly workloads and priorities
· Making sure projects are adequately staffed and progressing on schedule to meet delivery deadlines.
· Identifying bottlenecks and solving problems before they affect deadlines
· Creating and improving processes, SOPs, checklists, and systems
· Training, mentoring, and holding team members accountable
· Working with leadership to resolve production issues
· Ensuring orders are completed accurately and to our quality standards
· Maintaining a safe, organized, and productive work environment
· Stepping in and helping the team as needed, while keeping your primary focus on managing the operation.
Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who enjoys leading people and organizing work. You might come from a project management, operations, manufacturing, construction, fabrication, event, logistics, or another environment where you’ve had to coordinate people and competing priorities.
You should be:
· An experienced manager who can give clear direction and hold people accountable
· Highly organized and able to manage competing priorities
· Comfortable making decisions and creatively solving problems
· A strong communicator
· Able to look at a process and identify ways to improve it
· Comfortable working with firm deadlines and changing priorities
· Self-motivated and able to take ownership without constant direction
· Coachable and willing to learn our products and processes
· Willing to pitch in whenever and wherever the team needs help
· Someone who can keep a team moving without creating unnecessary drama
· Appreciative of humor, puns, and terrible dad jokes
Experience
We’re less concerned about whether you’ve worked in the entertainment industry and more interested in whether you know how to run a team and keep work moving. Experience in any of the following could be a good fit:
· Project management
· Operations management
· Manufacturing management
· Construction or fabrication management
· Warehouse or production supervision
· Managing a team in a deadline-driven environment
Experience in the production industry, CNC equipment, custom fabrication or scenic production is helpful, but not required.
What we offer
· Competitive pay
· Regular opportunities for raises and bonuses based on performance
· 3 weeks of paid leave per year
· Paid major holidays
· Health, vision, and dental insurance
· Health savings account
· A fun place to work with great co-workers
· A growing company where your work has a direct impact on how we operate
