The West Virginia Veterans Nursing Facility is seeking a dedicated and responsible person to fill the position of Food Service Supervisor in our long-term care facility.
You would perform work under general supervision at the full-performance level, planning and directing the preparation of food service in a state facility. You would supervise food service workers and other positions assigned to the area.
As a Food Service Supervisor, your duties would be focused on the following:

Assigns work and schedules workers

Participate in food preparation

Inspects kitchen and dining areas to determine sanitation standards are met

Must complete assessments and dietary portion of MDS
-
Attend care plan meetings
-
Train staff, complete EPA’s
-
Supervise the cleaning of preparation, service, and dining areas

Supervise the cooking and serving of food for adherence to health regulations

Orders food and supplies; must be able to utilize the inventory system
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must have good communication skills both written and oral
-
Knowledge of state and federal regulations for food and long-term care
-
Ability to work with outside agencies
-

Must be able to communicate with families and residents as needed

Work closely with the dietician and physician

Knowledge of large-scale kitchens and safe food practices
-
Write policies
-
Knowledge of institutional food service management, such as food costs, amounts served, etc.

Knowledge of basic arithmetic

Ability to keep records and complete reports

Knowledge of the practices and procedures of food service
Three years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in large-scale food preparation and service.
Must be a Certified Dietary Manager certified by the Board of Dietary Managers
Substitution:
An Associate degree in Food Service Management Technology or a closely related field from an accredited college or university, business or vocational school may substitute for the required experience.
Special Requirement: Applicant must furnish an approved food handler’s certificate within seven (7) days after appointment.
