Position Overview
The Back of House Director is responsible for leading all Back of House operations while ensuring excellence in food quality, food safety, speed, and operational execution. This role oversees training, staffing, leadership development, and kitchen systems to ensure the restaurant consistently delivers safe, fresh, and accurate food at a high level. The Back of House Director sets the standard for accountability, discipline, and hard work while developing a strong and efficient kitchen team.

Core Responsibilities
Back of House Leadership

Serve as the primary leader for all Back of House operations

Lead and support Kitchen Team Members, Trainers, and Shift Leaders

Create a culture centered around accountability, urgency, teamwork, and consistency

Maintain strong communication and alignment with Front of House leadership

Lead by example through work ethic, professionalism, and operational excellence
Food Quality & Food Safety

Ensure all food is prepared and served according to Chick-fil-A standards
-
Maintain excellence in food safety, cleanliness, and kitchen organization
-
Ensure proper product handling, rotation, holding times, and preparation procedures

Conduct regular food safety and quality checks
-
Hold the team accountable to all operational and safety standards
Scheduling & Staffing

Create and manage the Back of House schedule based on business needs

Ensure the kitchen is properly staffed for all dayparts
-
Support hiring, onboarding, and retention of strong Back of House talent
-
Build systems that maximize efficiency and labor productivity
Training & Development

Oversee all Back of House training systems and implementation
-
Track training progress and ensure all team members are properly certified

Develop Trainers and Shift Leaders to strengthen the leadership pipeline

Coach and develop future leaders within the kitchen

Ensure consistency and accountability in training execution
CEM & Operational Excellence

Help drive strong CEM performance through food accuracy, speed, and quality

Identify and implement operational improvements

Maintain excellence in kitchen systems, cleanliness, and shift execution

Ensure operational procedures are consistently followed

Support fast and efficient service during high-volume periods
