American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position specializing in post-op GI and wound care, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and at least one completed travel contract.

Med/Surg unit within an acute care hospital setting
-
Specializes in post-operative GI and wound care patients
-
Patient diagnoses include pancreatitis, GI bleeds, bowel obstructions, bowel perforation, wound infections, post-op infections, mass removal, esophageal perforation, GSW, MVC, and diverticulitis
-
Special procedures include pancreatectomy, esophagectomy, Whipple, splenectomy, adrenalectomy, cystectomy, colectomy, thyroidectomy, mastectomy, hepatic resection, Nissen, bariatric surgery, TURP, gastrectomy, parathyroidectomy, and exploratory laparotomy

Equipment used includes PEG, PEJ, PCA, peritoneal drains, JP drains, hemovac, wound vac, nephrostomy tubes, ileostomy, colostomy, and urostomy

Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)

13-week contract

Active LA RN license or a Compact RN license currently in hand

Current BLS certification (AHA only)

Minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience

Med/Surg and post-op unit experience required

Must have experience working full-time on a post-op unit

At least one completed travel contract required

Surgical drain and colostomy skills preferred

Candidates must reside 65+ miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted

Any requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process

Upon accepting an assignment, the unit manager may assign you to an emergency team, which may require you to remain at the facility during or after an emergency event or serve on a relief team — candidates uncomfortable with this expectation should not apply

All certifications must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
