Duties:
- Greeting patients, verifying vision benefits
- Preparing patients for the eye exam
- Answering the phone, scheduling appointments
- Greeting and checking in patients, collecting payment
- Verify insurance, correctly interpret vision plan coverage, process orders
- File vision plan exams
- Assisting patients in selecting eyeglasses
- Adjusting and repairing eyeglasses
Experience
- Previous experience in an optometric clinic or medical office environment is highly preferred
- Familiarity with optometry procedures, optical equipment, and anatomy/physiology of the eye enhances effectiveness in this role
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical coding, billing practices, and EMR systems such as Crystal Practice Managment is advantageous
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to maintain patient privacy at all times
- Experience working with pediatric and geriatric patients is a plus for engaging patients effectively
- Retail sales experience combined with front desk responsibilities demonstrates versatility in managing both clinical and customer service tasks

Ideal Candidate:
- Working knowledge of vision plans and health insurance plans
- Previous medical field experience
- Previous retail or hospitality experience
- 2 years of retail experience
- Bilingual
- Must be teachable and willing to learn
