Job Title: Bid Writer/Estimator
Location: Houston, TX (On-site 5 days per week)
Salary: $85,000 - $95,000 base (flexible for the right candidate) + performance-based bonuses
Day to Day
A leading heavy steel fabrication business is seeking a Bid Writer/Estimator to support the estimating team in preparing complete, professional bid packages for large-scale fabricated structures. Projects include custom bridges, hydraulic gates, dock structures, and other complex steel fabrications.
This position is ideal for someone with a strong technical writing ability and estimating support experience, who can confidently review drawings and specifications and produce clear, logical, well-written scope documents and bid submissions.
Responsibilities will include:

Reviewing drawings, specifications, and bid requirements

Producing professionally written scopes of work and bid documentation

Coordinating proposal documents such as qualifications, resumes, schedules, clarifications, and supporting technical submittals

Supporting estimators in assembling complete bid packages

Assisting post-award with project submittals and technical documentation (as needed)

Working closely with estimating, project management, engineering, and shop teams
Requirements

1+ years of relevant experience (estimating support, technical proposals, project engineering, fabrication, or construction administration)

Strong technical writing and communication skills (proper grammar and professional document formatting essential)

Ability to read and interpret drawings and project specifications

Familiarity with fabrication or heavy industrial construction environments preferred

Tekla experience required.

Strong Microsoft Office skills

Able to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a bid-driven environment

Must be local to Houston or willing to relocate

Must be comfortable working primarily on-site (with flexibility for occasional personal needs)
