Required Degree:
Doctoral degree with specialization in literacy, children's literature, or a related field.
The required degree must be completed by the start date.
Experience:
- Successful K-12 public school classroom teaching experience (preference given to candidates with a minimum of three years)
- Demonstrated potential for research productivity
- Demonstrated ability/interest to partner with local schools
- Knowledge of national trends in literacy and children's literature
Duties/Expectations:
Teaching
- Teach courses related to elementary literacy and children's literature at the undergraduate level, and related courses at the master's level
- Mentor undergraduate and master's students in research and teaching
- Advise master's and doctoral degree candidates
Scholarship
- Engage in high levels of research activity and publication
Citizenship
- Demonstrate a pattern of leadership at the department, school, and university levels
- Fulfill committee assignments and other citizenship activities inside the university, community, and profession
