Duties
- Dispense prescriptions accurately while adhering to all state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations
- Provide expert medication counseling to patients, including immunizations, medication administration, and health education
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to optimize therapeutic outcomes and ensure safety
- Manage pharmacy operations efficiently, including inventory control, medication compounding, and regulatory compliance (e.g., USP 797 standards)
- Lead and manage pharmacy teams, including pharmacy technicians, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and exceptional customer service
- Collaborate with healthcare providers on medical management plans, pain management strategies, and acute care interventions
- Utilize Pharmacy Information Systems (PIS), Electronic Health Record (EHR), and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems for accurate documentation and patient tracking
- Ensure clinical confidentiality policies are strictly followed to protect patient privacy under HIPAA guidelines
- Perform specialized tasks such as IV infusion preparation, aseptic technique procedures, and pediatric medication management
- Stay current with drug regulation updates, pharmaceutical research, physiology knowledge, and healthcare compliance standards to maintain practice excellence
Requirements
- Valid pharmacist license in good standing with relevant state authorities
- Proven experience practicing as a pharmacist in diverse settings such as hospital, LTC (Long-Term Care), community pharmacy or acute care environments
- Critical care experience highly preferred; background in pediatrics or pain management is advantageous
- Pharmacy residency or equivalent clinical pharmacy experience demonstrating advanced patient care skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and pharmacology principles
- Proficiency with pharmacy software systems including PIS, EMR/EHR platforms; familiarity with inventory management tools is essential
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and immunizations; additional certifications in IV insertion or aseptic technique are beneficial
- Excellent client communication skills with a focus on customer service excellence
- Deep understanding of drug regulation policies, practicing within legal frameworks governing pharmacy operations
- Ability to manage pharmacy teams effectively while ensuring compliance with pharmaceutical regulatory standards such as USP 797 and healthcare laws including HIPAA
