General Responsibilities
¨ Place the Welfare of All Children First and Foremost in Completion of All Duties. This includes all children riding your specific bus and all other children at the school.
¨ Maintain an effective, professional demeanor at all times by establishing and maintaining rapport with all contacts including: children, parents, staff and supervision.
¨ Consistently be aware that you are representing Stanfield Elementary School to the general public and be outgoing, friendly, and willing to help where required.
Pre-Trip and Post-Trip
¨ Complete pre-trip checklist as required by DPS and DOT and forward to Bus Mechanic as needed for repairs to be scheduled each day. This includes but is not limited to: inspection/adjustment of brakes and all other safety devices, operation of safety exits, check and restore all fluid levels, inflation of tires to acceptable PSI, cleanliness and appearance of bus.
¨ Immediately notify the Director of Transportation and Bus Mechanic of any problems, which would be a safety hazard and prevent the bus from operating until repaired.
¨ Daily complete all vehicle mileage and fuel reports and forward to Transportation Director and/or Bus Mechanic as instructed.
Communications
¨ Answer all telephone, pager and radio communications as quickly as possible.
¨ Relay information in a professional manner concerning any problems or unusual occurrences encountered before, during and while driving the bus either loaded or unloaded.
Loading, Driving and Unloading
¨ Strictly adhere to all traffic laws at all times.
¨ Correctly follow all routing instructions making adjustments for unusual conditions encountered en-route and immediately notifying the Transportation Director/Dispatch.
¨ Follow all established safety and DPS and DOT procedures when loading and unloading children/adults.
¨ Always maintain a helpful courteous rapport with all parents and people during loading and unloading.
Documentation
¨ Ensure all required paperwork is completed accurately and in a timely manner and given to Transportation Director/Dispatch.
¨ Complete driver’s log as required by DPS and DOT.
Special Assignments/Requests
¨ Complete all special assignments and requests in a timely manner.
¨ Keep appropriate personnel advised of progress.
¨ Request additional help and information as required.
