Overview
Join our Rooted Games team as a Retail Associate and live out your passion for collectibles, games, and creative hobbies! In this people-facing role, you will act as a guide in our customer's shopping experience and gaming experience and help them find what they need. Whether assisting with product demos, managing sales transactions, or merchandising displays, you will help create a warm and welcoming environment. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop retail and people skills and have fun while doing it.
Duties
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting shoppers warmly and offering knowledgeable assistance on products and hobbies
- Operate the POS (Point of Sale) system efficiently to process retail sales transactions accurately and handle cash, credit cards, and mobile payments with professionalism
- Conduct engaging product demonstrations to showcase new or featured items, encouraging customer interaction and upselling opportunities
- Maintain attractive merchandising displays that highlight key products and seasonal promotions to boost sales
- Stock shelves regularly, ensuring products are organized, labeled correctly, and replenished promptly to keep the store inviting and well-stocked
- Assist with inventory management by tracking stock levels, conducting periodic counts, and reporting discrepancies to supervisors
- Use effective communication skills to answer customer inquiries via phone or in person while maintaining excellent phone etiquette
Experience
- Previous retail sales experience is preferred but not required; enthusiasm for hobbies and collectibles is essential
- Familiarity with POS systems, cash handling procedures, and retail math concepts such as basic addition, subtraction, and making change
- Supervising experience is a plus, especially when guiding new team members or managing customer flow during busy periods
- Bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse customer needs effectively
- Experience in merchandising, stocking, or conducting product demos will help you excel in this role
- Knowledge of grocery store operations or similar environments can be beneficial due to the fast-paced nature of retail settings
- Strong communication skills combined with friendly phone etiquette will enable you to connect confidently with customers
