Position Summary:
The Handyman & Vehicle Fleet Technician is responsible for performing general building maintenance, repairs, preventive maintenance tasks, and assisting with the upkeep and management of company vehicles and equipment. This position supports daily operational needs by ensuring facilities, tools, and fleet vehicles remain safe, functional, and compliant.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Facility & Property Maintenance
- Perform general handyman duties including minor carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, drywall, and repair work
- Conduct routine inspections of buildings, grounds, and equipment
- Complete preventive maintenance and repair tasks
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas and storage spaces
- Install, assemble, and repair fixtures, furniture, and equipment
- Respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner
- Replenish supplies and fuel for tree farm employees as needed
Vehicle Fleet Responsibilities
- Inspect company vehicles for safety and operational readiness
- Schedule and coordinate routine maintenance and repairs
- Maintain vehicle service records and inspection documentation
- Monitor fuel usage, mileage, and maintenance schedules
- Assist with vehicle cleaning, inventory, and equipment organization
- Coordinate with repair vendors and service providers as needed
- Report vehicle damage, mechanical issues, or safety concerns promptly
General Responsibilities
- Operate maintenance tools and equipment safely
- Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and supplies
- Assist with loading, unloading, and transportation of materials when required
Qualifications:
- Experience in general maintenance, handyman services, or fleet maintenance preferred
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems
- Valid driver’s license is required
- Ability to operate hand and power tools safely
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy materials
- Class A CDL is a plus
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and work outdoors
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds or more as required
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and environments
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with fleet tracking or maintenance software
- Basic automotive maintenance knowledge
- Welding or fabrication experience
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
