Position Overview:
Provides strategic leadership in advancing pharmacy services through the integration of clinical quality, safety, and outcomes initiatives. Advances a culture of clinical excellence, patient safety, and continuous quality improvement within pharmacy services. Oversees the assessment, development, implementation, and evaluation of policies, procedures, and programs aimed at ensuring safe, evidence-based pharmacologic care across all healthcare settings. Provides oversight of the system drug diversion prevention, medication safety, medication use policy, and regulatory compliance and accreditation programs across the system. Serves as a key partner in institutional quality and safety initiatives and regulatory compliance.

EDUCATION:

Pharm D. or BS degree in pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:
-
RPH-California Registered Pharmacist within 6 months
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
- 8 years recent relevant experience
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
-
Progressive pharmacy clinical practice experience, including leadership in quality, safety, or clinical program management.

Prior leadership role with responsibility for the supervision of pharmacy personnel
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-
Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms
-
Experience leading a division across a multisite integrated delivery network
-
Expert knowledge of medication safety, clinical pharmacology, and evidence-based practices
-
Knowledge of State, Federal and accrediting body regulations and standards, performs in accordance with them
-
Proficient in data analytics, quality metrics, and risk management methodologies
-
Demonstrated skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standards
-
Demonstrates credible leadership presence, with the ability to respond to questions with logic, clarity, calmness and authority; and the ability to motivate and engage others

Interpersonal skills with the ability to deliver presentations to a variety of audiences
-
Demonstrates effectiveness in achieving goals through individuals without having direct control of those resources

Ability to build and establish effective working partnership with employees, peers and leaders to achieve business objectives

Requires a strong working knowledge of legal requirements and accreditation standards including National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), The Joint Commission (TJC), Title XXII, United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and United States Pharmacopeia (USP).

Pay Range is $236,641.60 to $378,622.40 / annual salary. Bay Area Pay Range is $268,902.00 to $430,248.00 / annual salary.
The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs. Base pay is only one component of Sutter Health’s comprehensive total rewards program. Eligible positions also include a comprehensive benefits package.
