The position is for a Utility Underground Excavation Safety Manager. You will be responsible for making sure that the heavy equipment operator does not have a miss or near miss on striking any underground utility lines. You are to be in charge of your immediate area and not the entire project. The work is day work from 7am to 3:30pm Monday through Friday.

Duties
- Develop, implement, and oversee excavation safety programs tailored to underground utility projects, ensuring adherence to OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards and NEC (National Electrical Code) requirements.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments for excavation sites, identifying potential hazards and establishing mitigation strategies to prevent accidents.
- Lead safety training sessions for construction teams, subcontractors, and site visitors on excavation procedures, hazard recognition, and emergency response protocols.
- Monitor construction activities on-site to ensure compliance with safety policies, EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) regulations, and construction management software systems.
- Manage incident investigations related to excavation activities, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Coordinate with project managers and construction management teams to integrate safety measures into project planning and execution phases.
- Maintain detailed records of safety inspections, incident reports, compliance audits, and training logs to support regulatory reporting and continuous improvement efforts.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of risk management principles specific to excavation and underground utility work.
- Extensive experience in occupational health practices within construction or utility environments.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations, NEC standards, workers' compensation procedures, and compliance management strategies.
- Proven ability in construction management, including overseeing complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using construction site experience tools such as construction management software for tracking safety metrics and documentation.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively train teams and liaise with regulatory agencies.
