The Sr. Manufacturing Process Engineer position is responsible for developing processes for aerospace components which are critical to the flight safety on both rotorcraft and fixed-wing aircraft.
Responsibilities:
- Process components from raw state (gears, casting, forging, material stock, etc.) to its finished B/P requirements for manufacturing in the plant on one of its machining centers or out at outside vendor(s) for machining or processing. The primary components are gears, housings (e.g., cases and covers) and rotor head components (e.g., hubs, spindles, and extensions). The components are from a wide range number of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
- Understand and follow OEMs’ specifications, systems, and processes.
- Drive improvements in the production of the component and reducing its manufacturing costs through its processing cycle.
- Support the manufacturing floor during component fabrication, which could involve component rework or repair.
- Enter component’s BOM and routing into the business unit’s Enterprise Resource Planning system.
- Create standard work processes for plant engineering and production personnel, as well as outside vendors.
- Lead engineering projects with a focus on maintaining customer satisfaction objectives in quality and on time delivery performance.
- Liaison between customers and Applied Program Managers in instituting customer requirements into PCX manufacturing processes.
- Support Applied Sales team in during the customer quotation process with in-house capability information and process cycle time estimates.
- Maintain Applied lean principles and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Quote new or revised components.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time, and at times required to stand and move
- Fine motor skills with frequent hand and arm movement
- Moderate twisting and bending
- Some lifting less than 30 pounds
Unusual Environmental Conditions:
- Loud machining environment; exposure to aerospace metals, lubricants and chemicals.
Required Personal Protective Equipment:
- Safety glasses/shields, appropriate manufacturing closed toed footwear, gloves, hearing protection may be required, or other protective equipment as needed.
Qualifications:
- US Citizen
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering or related experience.
- 5 to 7 years manufacturing flow process experience and prior aerospace manufacturing experience is desired
- Solid computer skills - Microsoft Office Suite including basic excel skills
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and competing priorities
- Prior engineering software experience desired; Experience with CAD/CAM: Seimens NX is desired
- Capability to work in a team as well as individually
- Proficient in English. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
- Strong team skills and ability to work with all levels of an organization
- Strong problem-solving skills
