Low Voltage Electrician — Camplife Customs
About us:
Camplife Customs is a San Diego van conversion shop with a fun, creative work environment built around teamwork. We operate on an extremely efficient 4 day work week that allows us to be incredibly productive Monday-Thursday and enjoy our 3 day weekends!
We're looking for an experienced Low Voltage Electrician with a background in RV, marine, van conversion, or a similar mobile-build industry to join our Electrical department.
The role:
You'll be joining our Electrical team, helping design, install, and commission the off-grid electrical systems that make our builds run — lithium battery banks, pure-sine inverters, solar arrays, DC-to-DC charging, smart load management, monitoring, and everything 12V/24V downstream. The systems we build are real off-grid platforms that have to perform for years, often in tough environments.
What you'll do:
- Install lithium battery banks (typically 400–920Ah)
- Wire pure-sine inverters from 2,200W to 4,000W+
- Design and install solar arrays with custom mounting rails
- Configure DC-to-DC charging, alternator charge controllers, and shore-power integration
- Set up Renogy, S-Pod, or comparable monitoring and smart load management
- Run 12V/24V circuits for lighting, ventilation, climate, water systems, and integrated equipment
- Label, test, and document every system before handoff
- Coordinate with our fabrication and cabinetry teams on routing, mounting, and access
What we're looking for:
- Hands-on low-voltage DC electrical experience specifically in van conversion, marine/yacht electrical, RV, off-grid solar, custom trailer, or mobile equipment installs — anywhere lithium banks, inverters, solar arrays, and DC-to-DC charging are part of regular work with van-style components
- Comfortable with lithium battery systems, pure-sine inverters, solar PV, and DC-to-DC charging
- Knows how to crimp, terminate, label, and run wire correctly — and why those details matter
- Can read wiring diagrams and produce clean, serviceable installs
- Safety-first habits with high-amperage systems
- A teammate. The Electrical department works closely with fabrication and cabinetry — everyone covers for everyone
Nice to have:
- Direct van conversion shop experience
- Marine / yacht electrical background
- Familiarity with Victron, Renogy, S-Pod, Battle Born, Lithionics, or comparable systems
- ABYC, NABCEP, or equivalent certification
- Experience integrating specialty equipment — AV, medical, broadcasting, or agency telematics
Why this shop:
- A small, close team that genuinely enjoys working together — and enjoys building awesome vans!
- 4-day work week with every Friday off
- Collaborative and team-focused environment — everyone supports everyone, and each person has a hand in the finished product
- Wide range of projects — every system is custom
Compensation:
$25–$35 per hour, depending on experience
Location: San Diego, CA, 92113
