Job Summary
We are seeking a Laboratory Technician 2 for a one-year contract opportunity in Durham, NC. This role supports environmental fate laboratory studies within a GLP-regulated laboratory environment, with a focus on pesticide metabolism, abiotic degradation, and mobility testing using natural soils, sediments, and waters.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career laboratory professional with strong wet chemistry skills and an interest in environmental, agricultural, and analytical science. The selected candidate will gain hands-on experience in a structured, safety-focused laboratory setting while working alongside knowledgeable scientific staff. This onsite position offers exposure to regulated testing practices, radio-labeled techniques, HPLC, documentation standards, and environmental fate study workflows.

Key Responsibilities
- Support environmental fate laboratory studies conducted under Good Laboratory Practices.
- Dose natural soils, sediments, and waters with 14C-labeled pesticide materials for metabolism, degradation, and mobility studies.
- Perform wet chemistry tasks such as sample weighing, solution preparation, pipetting, solvent extractions, and sample handling.
- Use or support analytical techniques such as liquid scintillation counting and high performance liquid chromatography.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, documentation, and study data in accordance with GLP requirements.
- Follow laboratory safety procedures, waste disposal requirements, and instructions from scientific staff and laboratory leadership.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay Rate: $29.00 to $30.00 per hour.
- Contract Length: One year.
- Work Arrangement: 100 percent onsite in Durham, NC.
- Overtime: Any overtime must be pre-approved by the hiring manager.
- Additional Screening: Drug screening is required. No additional medical exams are required.
