5-Day Schedule Full-Time Customer-Facing Growing Shop
Are you running a lot where you’re treated as an afterthought instead of the first and last face the customer sees? At Kitsap Auto Outlet, the person moving our customers and our vehicles is not an afterthought, you are the first impression and the last one, and we pay and treat you like it.
Kitsap Auto Outlet has been independently owned and operated in Port Orchard for 18 years. We retail 100+ vehicles a month. Our service department runs six technicians across seven bays, with retail customer repair orders and internal recon vehicles moving through the shop at the same time, every day.
Every one of those vehicles has to get from the lot to the shop and back. Every retail customer who drops a car off has to get home, and get picked back up. That movement does not run itself — it runs on this role.

COMPENSATION ELEMENT DETAIL

Schedule 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts
Type Full-time
Growth Buildout toward 10–12 technicians means more volume and more hours ahead, not less
As the shop scales toward 10–12 technicians over the next two years, the volume of vehicles and customers moving through this role scales with it.
The Shop
You would be stepping into a department that runs six technicians on seven bays today, with a two-year buildout underway toward 10–12 technicians. Retail customer vehicles and internal recon units move through the shop simultaneously, 100+ units a month in retail alone, plus the recon pipeline behind it.
That means constant movement: customer cars coming in and going out, recon units shuttling between the lot and the shop, and customers who need a ride while their vehicle is in a bay. This role is the reason that movement stays organized instead of becoming the bottleneck.
The Role
You own the safe, on-time movement of vehicles and people through the service department. Advisors, technicians, and dispatch never lose time to a car, or a customer, that isn’t where it needs to be, because you are the one keeping it moving. Your accountability is speed, safety, and presentation.
- Move vehicles between the lot, designated parking, and shop bays on request from dispatch or advisors, confirming the vehicle by VIN or stock number before every move
- Run vehicles to and from sublet shops and outside vendors, documenting vehicle condition at handoff both ways
- Shuttle retail customers to and from the dealership safely and professionally when the Service Manager requests it
- Keep the lot, customer parking, and customer vehicles clean and organized, nothing blocking bay access, nothing left where it slows the floor down
- Report any damage, mechanical concern, or safety issue you notice during a move, you report it, the Service Manager makes the call
- Keep key-board discipline airtight, every key back on the board immediately after every move
This role has more variety than the title suggests. Some days it is mostly vehicle moves, some days it is shuttle runs or a sublet run across town, and some days the floor needs something else entirely. You need to move between all of it without dropping any of it, and stay inside your lane while you do. You keep things moving; you don’t make calls on repairs, pricing, or what a vehicle needs. That belongs to the advisors and techs.
Who We’re Looking For
We look for five things: Attitude. Effort. Teamwork. Innovation. Results. For this role, you need all five, plus the trust factor that comes with putting someone behind the wheel with our customers and our inventory.
- You have a clean driving record and can back it up, 18 or older, insurable under our commercial auto policy, subject to an MVR check
- You can drive both automatic and manual transmission, you never know what’s coming into the shop
- You show up on time, every time, this role has no room for "I’ll be there in 20"
- You follow dispatch and advisor instructions without anyone chasing you down
- You can sit with a customer who is frustrated their car is in the shop and leave them in a better mood than you found them, without ever getting pulled into a conversation about their repair or their bill
- You treat a stranger’s vehicle with the same care you would want for your own, and you confirm the right vehicle before you ever put it in gear
- You stay in your lane, you report a problem, you don’t diagnose it, and you don’t decide it doesn’t matter
This is not a training role for professionalism behind the wheel or in front of a customer. If you do not already show up polished, reliable, and someone we can trust with a customer’s vehicle and their time, this is not the right fit and we will both know it quickly.
What You Won’t Find Here
- A porter job where you are treated as an afterthought instead of the person keeping the shop moving
- Unpredictable hours or last-minute schedule changes
- A role with no structure, no standard, and no one holding it
- Being handed a car with no idea what you are actually responsible for that day
What You Will Find
- A set 5-day schedule you can plan around
- A shop moving 100+ retail units a month — steady work, not a slow lot
- A growing operation — buildout underway toward 10–12 technicians and more bays
- Direct contact with management and ownership, not a call center or a corporate layer
- A real standard for how customers and vehicles are treated, and a team that holds it
- Health insurance
- Paid time off

About Kitsap Auto Outlet
Independent. Port Orchard-based. Founded in 2008. 40+ employees, three buildings, 18 years in the Kitsap market. We are not a franchise — which means we move fast, make decisions without layers of approval, and hold ourselves to standards that do not require a manufacturer’s scorecard to define.
We operate with urgency, precision, and a commitment to doing things right. The Service Porter we hire keeps the whole shop moving and is a core part of the customer’s first and last impression of this department. That is not a line. It is how we have operated for 18 years.
Apply through Indeed or email us directly at [email protected]. Answer these three questions when you apply: What is the longest stretch you have held a job that required a clean driving record, and what is on your MVR today? Tell us about a time you kept a frustrated customer calm about a problem you had no control over — what did you do? Describe a job where you had to juggle several different tasks in the same shift, on other people’s timing, without dropping any of them. Candidates who cannot answer those questions are not ready for this role.
