Summary :
The Central Sterile Processing (CSP) Technician is responsible for properly disinfecting, decontaminating, cleaning, processing, assembling, storing and distribution of sterile and non-sterile medical devices utilized in patient care. These support services are provided to all patient care areas throughout the health care facilities.
Responsibilities:
1. To decontaminate items brought to CSP from various departments of AR Gould and other off site patient care locations. 2. To place instruments into proper sets and wrap following set policy and procedure. 3. Sterilize items in appropriate manner following policy and procedure. 4. Package cooled items for transport to off site locations. 5. Transport of sterile items to the Operating Room (OR) 6. Transport of soiled items to CSP from the OR 7. Proper use of chemicals used in disinfecting various types of equipment in CSP. 8. Maintaining a clean work environment by daily cleaning of all surfaces. 9. Rotate evening, holiday and weekend on-call hours with other CSP staff. 10. Able to properly use the System One sterilizer in the GI Lab / DSU area 11. Properly checks all flexible scopes for leaks before cleaning. 12. Cleaning of all GI scopes following proper procedure. 13. Assist DSU staff as necessary with drying of flexible scopes. 14. Turn around OR instruments needed for next case. 15. Knowing proper use of all CSP equipment. 16. Proper replenishing of emergency crash carts used on patient care units.
