Part-Time Kennel Assistant
If you love animals, being part of a dedicated team, and want to make a difference in people and pets lives then Sandwich Veterinary Hospital is the place for you! We are a feline certified, busy, family oriented hospital that is looking for a part-time kennel assistant.
Must be outgoing, able to multi-task, be comfortable and able to handle both cats and dogs of all sizes, have reliable transportation, and most of all love animals!
This is a part-time position, working kennels and assisting other departments of the hospital when needed. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, weekends and holidays. Shifts vary between 7:30 am-6:30 pm Mon-Friday. Saturdays and Sundays are short shifts-but required to be available am and pm shifts.
Veterinary Experience Preferred but not required.
Kennel Responsibilities
Clean and disinfect cages, runs and yard daily.
Feed and water animals according to schedules.
Accurately mark cage cards and log book correctly for eating, drinking and elimination habit.
Walk the kennel area regularly, checking each pet for any abnormal activity such as vomiting, diarrhea or blood in the cage or run and inform medical staff immediately.
Administer medications to pets that require medications while boarding as directed by technicians or doctors.
Wash/dry & fold kennel bedding and hospital laundry
Bathe & Clip nails for both dogs and cats
Provide compassionate care to all boarding pets and hospitalized patients.
Hospital Responsibilities
Vacuum, sweep and mop floors
Clean & stock bathrooms
Empty garbage & recycling
Clean windows
Maintain outdoor grounds:
· Disposal of dog waste/debris
· Raking/trimming/weeding and watering of plants/flowers.
· Shoveling/Salting
Promote a positive attitude among staff.
Maintain a professional appearance at all times.

- Self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision
Physical Obligations
Able to lift patients up to 50 lbs
- Endure sitting, standing, bending and walking on hard surfaces for extended periods.
- Able to work in noisy work conditions from animals and equipment.
