FLOORING ESTIMATOR
Shoomadoggie Flooring & General Contracting
Turn field measurements, plans, and project details into clear, accurate estimates that help customers move forward with confidence.
About the Opportunity
Shoomadoggie is looking for a detail-oriented Flooring Estimator who understands how successful projects begin: with accurate measurements, a complete scope, and clear communication. This role combines field walkthroughs, plan review, takeoffs, cost development, and coordination with customers, installers, subcontractors, and the office team.
The right person will enjoy variety, take ownership of details, and help turn residential and commercial opportunities into well-planned projects. While flooring is the primary focus, the estimator may also support countertops, repairs, tenant improvements, cleaning, and related general contracting work.
Why This Role Stands Out
Work on a broad mix of residential and commercial projects.
Use both field experience and estimating skills—not just desk-based calculations.
Collaborate directly with customers, installers, subcontractors, and operations staff.
Play a visible role in project accuracy, customer expectations, and job profitability.
What You’ll Do
Attend scheduled site visits on time and represent the company professionally.
Meet with customers to understand project goals, confirm the requested scope, and identify site conditions that may affect pricing or installation.
Measure spaces accurately and prepare drawings, takeoffs, calculations, photos, installation notes, and other supporting documentation.
Review construction drawings and specifications to identify materials, labor, equipment, demolition, disposal, subcontracted work, and project requirements.
Develop accurate, complete estimates with clearly defined inclusions, exclusions, assumptions, and installation requirements.
Identify subfloor preparation, leveling, transitions, trim, access limitations, sequencing concerns, and other conditions that could affect cost or schedule.
Coordinate with installers and subcontractors to confirm labor needs, technical requirements, and potential installation challenges.
Submit completed estimates and documentation to the office team within established timelines and remain available to answer questions or clarify scope.
Support the operations team during project handoff and help resolve scope-related questions that arise during installation.

What You Bring
At least two years of hands-on flooring installation or closely related trade experience.
Experience estimating residential, commercial, or construction projects.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents.
Strong measuring, mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Clear written and verbal communication with customers, coworkers, installers, and subcontractors.
Strong organization, follow-through, time management, and the ability to manage multiple estimates.
Sound judgment and a practical understanding of installation methods, materials, and jobsite conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience estimating multiple flooring types, countertops, or small general contracting projects.
Experience working with installers and subcontractors to validate scope and labor requirements.
What Success Looks Like
Estimates are complete, accurate, and submitted on time. Project scopes are easy for customers and the operations team to understand. Important site conditions are identified before work begins, and installers receive the information they need for an efficient project handoff.
