Job Summary
The Head Custodian at Caldwell County Middle School is responsible for overseeing the daily cleaning and maintenance of school facilities to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role involves managing custodial staff, coordinating cleaning schedules, and maintaining equipment and supplies. The Head Custodian plays a vital role in upholding the school's standards for cleanliness and hygiene, contributing to the overall educational experience.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of custodial staff.
- Develop and implement cleaning schedules and procedures to maintain the cleanliness of classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and other common areas.
- Ensure the proper use and maintenance of custodial equipment and supplies, including ordering and inventory management.
- Perform routine inspections of the facilities to identify and address maintenance needs or safety hazards.
- Collaborate with school administration to coordinate special events and ensure facilities are prepared for activities.
- Respond to emergency cleaning requests and situations in a timely manner.
- Promote a safe working environment by adhering to health and safety regulations and protocols.
- Foster a positive team environment and encourage open communication among custodial staff.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in custodial management is a plus.
- Proven experience in custodial services, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role preferred.
- Knowledge of cleaning equipment, chemicals, and safety practices.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff, students, and the community.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift and move heavy objects as needed.
- Background check and drug screening may be required prior to employment.
