Overview
We are seeking an energetic and compassionate Direct Support Specialist to join our team Thursday through Saturday from 6am to 4pm (10 hours X 3 days). In this vital role, you will provide personalized care and support to resident with diverse needs, including those requiring assistance with daily living activities, memory care, and medication management. You will be working with one other staff on most occasions.
Responsibilities
- Assist resident with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor and record vital signs and health status to ensure well-being
- Support resident with medication administration following proper protocols
- Engage resident in meaningful activities that promote independence and social interaction
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment through regular cleaning and manual handling practices
- Communicate effectively with resident's family and healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
- Follow safety procedures including safe patient lifting practices and emergency response protocols such as first aid and CPR
Skills
- Prior assisted living or long-term care experience, especially in geriatrics or dementia care
- Knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease, memory care and Parkinson's
- Experience working with individuals with developmental or cognitive disabilities
- Ability to operate EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems accurately
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and assist with resident transfers safely
- Certification in first aid, CPR, and medication administration is preferred but not required, we can get you training
- Familiarity with home & community care environments and residential care home settings

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
