Job Title: Dermatology Medical Assistant. Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Dermatology Medical Assistant to join our growing dermatology team. In this role, you will provide critical clinical and administrative support to our board-certified dermatologist. You will be responsible for ensuring an exceptional, comfortable patient experience while assisting with medical, surgical, and cosmetic procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Assistance: Prep exam rooms, escort patients, document medical histories, and input visit reasons accurately into our Electronic Medical Records (EMR) software Modernizing Medicine EMA.
- Procedure Support: Actively assist during surgical, medical, and cosmetic dermatology procedures, including biopsies, excisions, Mohs micrographic surgery, laser treatments, cosmetic injectables, chemical peels, microneedling, PRP injections and phlebotomy among others.
- Patient Education: Deliver clear pre-care and post-care treatment instructions to patients regarding wound care, prescriptions, and skin wellness.
- Logistics & Pathology: Manage the biopsy book, maintain pathology, track laboratory results, and associate results in patient charts.
- Prescription Coordination: Process prescription refills, handle prior authorizations with insurance, and communicate updates to patients and pharmacies.
- Inventory Management: Track, sanitize, and restock clinical instruments, medical products, and cosmetic skincare supplies.
Qualifications & Skills
- Certification: Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program; a National Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential is highly preferred unless going for an advanced medical degree (PA, Nursing or Medical school)
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years months of experience in a clinical medical setting dermatology or plastic surgery experience preferred.
- Technical Savvy: Proficient with EMR systems and patient scheduling programs.
- Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional customer support skills, clear verbal communication, and a compassionate, patient-first approach.
- Operations: Proven ability to multitask, problem-solve, and maintain quick patient flow in a busy environment.

We are a smaller office so being very reliable and service oriented is a must. Dermatology experience is preferred. Open to candidates who are going on for an advanced degree.
Required license/ certification Medical Assistant except for those going on to PA, nursing or medical school. Medical billing experience and phlebotomy experience is a plus.
